Welcoming You Back

As we welcome Guests back on guided group vacations with Adventures by Disney, promoting health and safety is a top priority.

Our focus remains on the well-being of our Guests and staff, and on operating our trips in a responsible way that continues to create magical experiences.

Adventures by Disney is resuming trips with multiple layers of health and safety measures developed in consideration of guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), local and international health authorities, the U.S. Travel Association and The Walt Disney Company’s team of health experts. With this guidance, we have reimagined the Adventures by Disney experience. Additionally, this deliberate approach allows us to evaluate and adjust along the way. Given the constantly changing global health environment, our plans may evolve as we consider new guidance and recommendations from health agencies.

We’re providing you with these Guest Health and Safety Protocols ahead of your trip so you understand our policies and can do your part in promoting health and safety. This includes information about personal health and hygiene and new measures we have put in place for physical distancing, face coverings, cleaning and more.

Top Things You Need to Know

Here are the most important things you need to be aware of as you prepare for your next Adventures by Disney vacation.

  • Testing and/or vaccinations will be required before the trip, and online health assessments will be conducted before joining guided group tours for the well-being of everyone. During the trip, Guests will be required to complete a self-assessment daily. All Guests, Adventure Guides and tour operators accompanying Guests in vehicles will also be required to show proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination (completed at least 14 days prior to the trip) before joining any trip.
  • Face coverings are required at all times when indoors, and outside when physical distancing of 3 feet is not possible.
  • Physical distancing (maintaining a distance of 3 feet from one another) is required for all Guests and trip operators. Our team will work with Guests to determine the composition of their travel party, or “travel pod,” prior to departure. Members within a travel pod will stay together and physically distance from other travel pods.

Please note that additional guidelines may be posted at a later date pertaining to Adventures by Disney River and Expedition Cruises. Please check back for additional information.

Testing and Online Health Assessments

Our updated approach emphasizes a combination of new protocols to promote health and safety throughout your trip, including testing and health assessments along the way.

Negative PCR COVID-19 Test or Proof of Vaccination
All Guests, Adventure Guides, drivers, experts and tour operators accompanying Guests in vehicles will be required to show either proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination before joining any trip. Test results or proof of vaccination must be submitted to The Anvil Group within 24 hours prior to the start of the trip.

PCR COVID-19 tests must be taken within 5 days prior to the start of the trip. If submitting proof of vaccination, it must show that a second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was administered at least 14 days prior to departure.

Before Leaving Home – Online Health Assessment
All Guests, Adventure Guides and on-trip staff must complete an online health assessment and submit to The Anvil Group within 24 hours of departure. If the Guest answers “yes” to any symptoms on the health assessment or has close contact with an individual with suspected infection, it may result in their inability to embark on the trip. The health assessment will screen for:
  • Temperature of 100.4 or higher
  • COVID-19 symptoms: cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, new onset of nausea, diarrhea or vomiting
  • Attendance at large gatherings within the previous 14 days
  • Travel within the previous 14 days
  • Diagnosis of COVID-19—or close contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19—in the previous 14 days without completing the required self-quarantine period
Arrival Day – Verbal Health Assessment
On arrival day, Guests will complete a private, verbal health assessment to screen for COVID-19 symptoms.  For the duration of the trip, Guests will be required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms daily. Should a Guest or traveler display COVID-19 symptoms, a telehealth medical consultation will be conducted to determine whether they can continue on the trip. Adventure Guides will include health and safety reminders specific to each day’s itinerary in daily briefings.

Reentry Into the US (International Adventures Only)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires anyone 2 years of age and over entering or reentering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within 3 calendar days before boarding their flight​, or proof of recovery from the virus within the previous 90 days. Prior to the trip, Adventures by Disney will provide Guests with information on how to obtain the required testing. Details will be unique to the specific point of departure for reentry.

Face Coverings and Personal Care Case

Adventures by Disney requires cloth face coverings to be worn by everyone ages 2 and up (including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine) at all times when indoors, as well as outdoors when physical distancing of 3 feet is not possible. Face coverings are not required when eating or drinking, in one's own hotel room, when swimming, or outside when maintaining physical distancing of 3 feet. 

Prior to departure, each Guest will receive a Personal Care Case, which includes 3 cloth face coverings, hand sanitizer, wipes and health and safety guidelines. Guests may use their own face coverings (with exception of shared transportation), as long as they meet the following criteria:
  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
  • Secured with ties or ear loops
  • Include multiple layers of fabric (minimum 3-ply for cloth)
  • Allow for breathing without restriction
  • If reusable, they can be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape
Guests may bring face coverings that have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings must:
  • Be a fabric face covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that is attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching
  • Meet all face-covering requirements listed above
In addition to the required face covering, Guests may elect to bring and wear a face shield, keeping in mind that the face shield must:
  • Be a minimum height of 8.5” and minimum width of 11”
  • Include foam padding at the forehead with a minimum length of 8” and maximum thickness of 2”
  • Extend beneath the chin
  • Include sides that extend wider than the head
  • Have a solid, clear plastic front with no vent holes or perforations.
  • Be worn with a cloth face covering beneath it
Please note: At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings. Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.

The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.

Physical Distancing and Travel Pods

Guests, Adventure Guides and tour operators must follow guidelines for physical distancing (keeping a distance of 3 feet between travel pods) throughout the trip. Physical distancing of 6 feet will be maintained while eating at both indoor and outdoor venues.

In locations where ordinances dictate stricter measures than Adventures by Disney protocols, more stringent guidelines will apply.

Travel Pods
Prior to the trip, our team will work with Guests to determine the composition of their travel party, as known as your “travel pod.” Members within a travel pod may interact with each other normally, but must remain physically distanced from other travel pods. A pod may be large—made up of multiple families—or as small as one person or a few solo travelers that have requested to be placed together prior to departure. Once a trip begins, travel pods cannot be changed or be placed together in activities, vehicles or restaurants. Activities, meals, lodging and transportation will be arranged in a manner that incorporates physical distancing and reduces direct contact with others outside of your travel pod.

For Private Adventures, all members of the travel party will be considered one travel pod.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

Adventures by Disney is operating at elevated levels of cleaning and disinfecting.

We’ve updated our protocols with a special emphasis on high-touch areas. All trip operators associated with activities, transportation, lodging and dining will be expected to follow Adventures by Disney protocols for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. In addition, all cleaning products meet the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for use against coronaviruses, bacteria and other pathogens.

Hand Hygiene

Throughout the trip, Adventure Guides will remind Guests to wash their hands thoroughly and use hand sanitizer regularly.

Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available in the Personal Care Case mailed to Guest homes prior to the trip. While Adventure Guides will have hand sanitizer available at all times, Guests should bring extra supplies of hand sanitizer and wipes for the trip.

Trip Activities

Focused on creating magical Disney memories and unforgettable experiences in a responsible way, Adventures by Disney has made some important adjustments to the trip activities to promote health and safety.

Physical Distancing and Face Coverings
Guests must follow physical distancing and face covering protocols for all indoor and outdoor activities such as museums, cooking classes, lectures, private tours, hikes, cycling tours and rafting.

Group Activities
Guests will participate in group activities—such as rafting and Zodiac rides—only within their travel pods unless they can maintain physical distancing guidelines. If physical distancing cannot be maintained between travel pods and guides, the activity may be substituted with a suitable alternative.

All equipment used for activities will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected prior to use.

Adventure Guides and experts are no longer permitted to take pictures using a Guest’s device. Instead, they may take photos with their own equipment and share the images with Guests electronically.

Whisper Devices
Whisper devices (also known as electronic tour guide systems) will be used where possible to encourage physical distancing. They will be distributed at the beginning of a trip for individual use.

Adventures by Disney–issued face coverings, physical distancing, and assigned seating are required on motor coaches and all other modes of shared transportation.

In advance of their trip, Adventures by Disney will provide Guests with a Personal Care Case that includes face coverings required to be worn during all shared transportation, including any flights that are part of the itinerary. Made with multiple layers of engineered fabric, these face coverings are intentionally designed with adjustable ear loops to help reduce side gapping and provide for a secure fit. A flexible wire running across the nose bridge allows them to be formed against the face to help reduce air from escaping or entering. Guest capacity during shared transportation has been calculated based on the manufacturing specifications of these face coverings.

Guests will have assigned seats on motor coaches and other modes of transportation and physical distancing will be required. Members within the same travel pod may sit together, physically distanced from other travel pods.

Every vehicle will be cleaned in accordance with Adventures by Disney protocols before transportation is provided. Transportation companies will conduct a deep clean of all vehicles daily. The vehicle driver will disinfect armrests, rails and seats every time the group departs the coach and prior to their return.

Serving up mouthwatering global cuisines, Adventures by Disney invites you to savor the finest in dining with new enhancements to promote health and safety.

In-Restaurant Meals
Meals served in restaurants throughout your journey will continue while physical distancing standards of 6 feet are required. Members within the same travel pod will be seated together and solo travelers shall be seated separately. Outdoor seating will be arranged where available. Restaurant staff will wear face coverings, and electronic or disposable menus will be requested.

Flexible Dining Options
Plated meals will be requested, and flexible dining options such as to-go and room service will also be available where possible. Should a buffet be offered, the server will serve the food to Guests individually while wearing gloves and positioned behind a barrier. Family-style meals are still possible, but only within individual travel pods and not shared between different travel pods.

Astounding accommodations during your trip allow you to travel in comfort and style—while new measures help to promote health and safety.

Adventures by Disney will review each hotel’s health and safety protocols to ensure that they adhere to guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting, face coverings and physical distancing.

Adventure Guides will help facilitate hotel check-in to avoid excessive time in hotel lobbies.

Housekeeping and turndown services will be limited to reduce the number of hotel staff entering Guest rooms.

All luggage will be handled in a sanitary manner. Luggage handlers will wash their hands before and after handling luggage as well as wipe down handles and touch points with disinfecting wipes.

Trip Leader Training & Workplace Safety

Promoting health and safety starts with us, so we’ve adopted a number of new policies and practices for our Adventure Guides and staff.

Adventure Guides, drivers, experts and tour operators accompanying Guests in vehicles will be required to show proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test or full vaccination before joining any trip, and will self-screen their health every day prior to joining the group. Those displaying any COVID-19 symptoms will be unable to accompany the group.

In addition, all staff members are receiving additional training on new health and safety measures, such as face coverings and physical distancing, as well as on the continued importance of personal health and hygiene.

Tour Operators

Tour operators play an integral role in promoting health and safety.

If a tour operator is unable to comply with Adventures by Disney health and safety protocols, an alternate tour operator for that program will be used. If local government rules or restrictions prohibit the ability to fully carry out the health and safety protocols established by Adventures by Disney, that portion of the program will be temporarily suspended.

Adventures by Disney will monitor tour operators’ adherence to the agreed upon health and safety protocols through reports by Adventure Guides, Guest evaluations and feedback, and in-person site inspections, when possible.

Cancellation Policy

We understand how much anticipation surrounds each Adventures by Disney vacation, so we’ve made temporary updates to our policies to offer Guests more flexibility.

All 2021 Land, Escape and River Cruise Bookings
New bookings of the 2021 season including Land Adventures, Escapes and River Cruises made through June 30, 2021 for travel through March 31, 2022 are eligible for fully refundable deposits up until the final payment date, which has been temporarily modified to 65 days prior to departure. Disneyland Resort and Southern California Escape departures beginning in March 2022, all Buenos Aires Escape departures and all Expedition Cruise sailings are excluded from this modified cancellation and final payment policy.

Date changes or cancellations will follow standard terms & conditions.

Travel Insurance

Adventures by Disney strongly encourages Guests to purchase their own travel insurance, including medical coverage, evacuation insurance, and trip cancellation or trip interruption coverage. Insurance is available for purchase during the booking process. Some destinations may require travel insurance for entry.

COVID-19 Warning

We have taken enhanced health and safety measures—for you, our other Guests, and our staff. You must follow all instructions while traveling with Adventures by Disney.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the CDC, senior citizens and Guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.

By traveling with Adventures by Disney you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

By traveling with Adventures by Disney, you accept that if you are deemed unfit to travel (whether according to the CDC, a medical provider, Adventures by Disney, or a third party engaged by Adventures by Disney to determine a Guest/traveler’s fitness to travel), you will not be able to start or continue, as applicable, on the adventure.

Health Acknowledgement

Please make sure that you have reviewed any advisories or restrictions that may be in place for travel. In addition, please be sure you are familiar with our booking and cancellation policies. Guests who are or may be at increased risk of severe illness due to contracting COVID-19 should consult with their health care provider before traveling. By traveling with Adventures by Disney, you are confirming that you:

  • Are not experiencing any of the following symptoms of COVID-19 identified by the CDC at, including:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  • Will report to Adventures by Disney if you experience any COVID-19 symptoms while on the trip
  • Have not been in contact with someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 symptoms without completing a 14-day quarantine
  • Are not under any self-quarantine orders

Guests who cannot confirm all of the above criteria, or who are deemed unfit to travel, will not be eligible to travel with Adventures by Disney. If you need to reschedule your trip, please call (800) 543-0865.

Adherence to Guest Health and Safety Protocols
By traveling with Adventures by Disney, you are consenting to adhere to these Guest Health and Safety Protocols. Adventures by Disney is not liable in any way for the failure of other participants to abide by the Guest Health and Safety Protocols, and the Guest Health and Safety Protocols are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of Adventures by Disney. Please confirm any changes to the Guest Health and Safety Protocols before departure, as all Guests and travelers are responsible for abiding by the most updated Guest Health and Safety Protocols in effect at the time of the adventure.

Indemnity Agreement
Prior to departure, Adventures by Disney Guests and travelers will be required to sign a COVID-19 Waiver and Indemnity Agreement acknowledging and assuming liability risks related to traveling during the pandemic.
