Our adventures by Disney trip was remarkable. But it wasn't the vistas of Machu Picchu or the savory ambrosia at every single stop but rather the
relationships that were fostered (by our guides) with each and every traveler irregardless of age and interests. My son was the youngest on this tour (6) and he felt like a prince. When I asked him his favorite moment, he just talked about all the pretty girls that he got to flirt with on the bus rides. It's what Disney does best...bringing together people from all facets of life and melding them into a magical memory.

One of my favorite parts of our trip was our guides. They were helpful, cheerful and funny. In particular, I liked the way one of them would call us
Adventurers in a sing song kind of voice that made me laugh. Now, when I wake up in the morning I come down stairs and I say good morning Adventurers to my dog and cat, in the same sing song voice. So every day I remember my Adventures By Disney trip, and every day feels like an adventure!

What does every parent ultimately want for his or her children? More than anything, we want to see them forge ahead successfully on their own to
take on whatever challenges come their way. Adventures by Disney gave us the priceless opportunity to watch our son conquer such a challenge. Like all ABD trips, the Sacred Valleys and Incan Cities itinerary unfolds like a beautifully complex story, building to a crescendo on the last full day. In Peru, that culminating experience was Machu Picchu. The remains of the storied ancient Incan city far exceeded any expectations we had for it. We were in awe of the majestic beauty of the place during every precious moment we had to explore it. When given the opportunity to hike hundreds of feet higher to the Sun Gate, my husband and I knew we wouldn't be able to make the climb in the time allotted due to a recent back injury. But our son was not to be deterred. He joined Rudy, our guide, and a handful of hearty teens and adults to hike to the Sun Gate. Llamas joined the group for part of the trek and Rudy coaxed a rare bird into song with bird calls recorded on his phone. Our son felt the most extraordinary sense of accomplishment for reaching his destination. We are so grateful that ABD could facilitate his ascent. Had he gone to Machu Picchu with his parents alone, he likely would have missed out on the opportunity to make the climb. Thank you, Adventures by Disney, for giving us a glimpse into the heights to which our son can rise.

Our first Adventures By Disney adventure was to the Sacred Valleys and Incan Cities in Peru. We have traveled extensively and this trip by far, was the
most wonderful trip that our family has taken. Everything from the Sol y Luna Lodge with Pachamanca Andean Feast cooked over hot stones to river rafting down the Urubamba River to the Salt Pans to Machu Picchu with the Llamas and Alpacas roaming freely to the terrific cities of Lima and Cusco was such fun and fascinating for all ages. We loved this adventure so much that the following year in summer of 2014, we went to China with Adventures By Disney and had another amazing family vacation. We are hoping to take out 3rd Adventures By Disney tour in the summer of 2016.

Feeding and petting the llamas in Peru was such a surreal experience. The alpaca are so soft, and friendly. All the children and adults got a thrill to
feed them and pose for pictures. Then we observed all the weaving and industry associated with the beautiful sweaters and blankets, and how much a part of the culture the llamas are. Our guides taught us so much in an unforgettable and hands-on manner. When we use our Peruvian blankets and sweaters, we think about those cute llamas!!

While visiting a Peruvian family's home, all the travelers were invited to speak, sing, or perform on the local radio station. My daughter, age 13 and
typically very shy, chose to sing Colors of the Wind from Disney's Pocohantas. Listening to her sing about appreciating the world around us, the differences, and the beauty, I felt a mother's joy as well as connection with our Peruvian hosts, guides, and travelers.

During our trip to Peru the first sights of Machu Picchu was a life event that my wife, my daughter and I remember vividly. Imagining what it took for
ancient people to build such a structure in the remote area and guessing at its purpose. Each of us still marvels at having the opportunity to both see and explore this wonder. This trip strengthened the family bond aa a unique experience that we shared together.

Our first Adventures-by-Disney trip was to Peru. It was magical and got us hooked on the Disney brand. Here we are in Cusco on a natural stone slide

My family have been on two Adventure By Disney trips. We went to Washington DC a few years ago and liked the experience so much we
came back for Peru. The Peru trip took place this year (2015). My wife had always wanted to see Machu Picchu, and ABD seemed like the perfect way to do so. Machu Picchu was a highlight, words can't describe, but definitely not the only one. The river rafting was another highlight, and a first for my boys, Christian and Michael. I don't have a picture that doesn't have them smiling (or concentrating really hard on staying in the boat). There were some sites, such as the salt mines and Morey, that we knew were coming but couldn't appreciate until we saw them. We left them with a great sense of awe and appreciation (and a lack of breath from the altitude, whew). It was the unexpected highlights that our family enjoyed the most. Bartering in the marketplace, then taking a picture with a parade group and meeting some of the parade participants. Being entertained by plays and dancing, sometimes in the most unexpected way. Horseback riding and hiking, and just seeing Peru as the natives see it, not just the tourists. Landon and Rudy were phenomenal tour guides, and they saw to it that Peru ranks at the top of all the family vacations we have taken. ABD can expect to see us a third time in the future.

Besides seeing the amazing sites and being completely thrilled by Disney taking care of every detail, one of our favorite memories was meeting and
feeding the llamas up close. Each of our daughters feed the llamas but we still laugh over having a llama sneak up behind our oldest daughter and 'steal' the food that she was holding behind her back so that the llama she was currently feeding wouldn't eat it. It was the ultimate llama ninja sneak attack!

We planned our Peru trip with Adventures By Disney for the week of our 38th anniversary, then realized that the highlight of the trip, a visit to Machu
Picchu, would take place on the very day of our anniversary. It was a perfect day, with a wonderful guided tour of the site, a hike up to the Moon Gate, and lots of pictures taken by our enthusiastic guides. Machu Picchu itself would have been an amazing memory, but as we were traveling back to our hotel on the train the staff of PeruRail (who must have been informed about our special occasion by our very thoughtful guides) came out to surprise us with chocolate covered grapes and hand-made chocolate hearts. We shared the treats with our group as they shared our special day with us. What an excellent anniversary! Adventures By Disney made it extra-special! Thank you ABD. - Rick and Cheryl Van Oss
