Welcome to the capital of Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost city in South America. Enjoy exploring the lush landscape of this lovely city that sits between the Andes Mountains and the Beagle Channel—named after the boat on which Charles Darwin visited the area in 1833.
Morning & Afternoon Activities:
Guests will experience all of the different elements at various times throughout the day. Grouping and timing will provided by your Adventure Guides in destination.
Tierra del Fuego National Park
Set against a backdrop of majestic mountains and glacier valleys, Tierra del Fuego National Park encompasses 160,000 acres of stunning natural landscapes that range from lush forests, crystal clear lakes, rugged mountains and beautiful beaches.
End of the World Train
Ride the rails of the world’s southernmost functioning railway on a private ride just for you and your fellow Adventurers. This former prison train now takes passengers on a unique ride through the stunning Patagonia landscape and includes a stop at the historic La Macarena Station.
End of the World Post Office & Nature Walk
Stroll through the dramatic scenery that makes up Tierra del Fuego National Park. Marvel at the magnificent bodies of water, lush forests and majestic mountains found in this magical place.
When you come to the end of the road, you’ll have the opportunity to send friends and family back home a postcard with a coveted postmark from one of the most remote places on Earth—the Post Office at the End of the World. The small shanty, built on stilts and constructed of corrugated metal and wooden piles is the southernmost post office in the world.

Option A: Catamaran Excursion with Harberton Settlement Tour & Lunch
Cruise through the dramatic scenery of Beagle Channel—named after the boat Charles Darwin sailed on during his visit to the region in 1831—on a private 3-hour motorized catamaran ride where you’ll keep watch for sea lions, an array of birds and penguin colonies along the way. You’ll also do some glacier spotting and make a few photo stops of local wildlife on your way to Harberton Settlement.
Spend time exploring Harberton Settlement, a former mission founded in 1886 by British missionary Thomas Bridges, set amid rolling green hills and the snow-capped Andes mountains. Currently, the Tierra del Fuego landmark, which resembles an English country estate, is owned by descendants of the original mission. Take a private motor coach to Harberton Settlement with a stop along the way at a husky kennel where you’ll enjoy a lovely nature walk on the kennel grounds and have an opportunity to play with the husky pups while learning about their importance in this region.
Continue your adventure at Harberton Settlement, a former mission founded in 1886 by British missionary Thomas Bridges, set amid rolling green hills and the snow-capped Andes mountains. Currently, the Tierra del Fuego landmark, which resembles an English country estate, is owned by descendants of the original mission. After your visit to Harberton Settlement, you’ll have a casual lunch on board the catamaran, then head out to sea for a private motorized catamaran tour of Beagle Channel and its magnificent scenery and array of local wildlife on the way back to Ushuaia.

Bid Argentina a fond adios, as you and your fellow Adventurers depart Ushuaia via the Beagle Channel and sail into open water of the Drake Passage.

Crossing the Drake Passage is a rite of passage for any seafaring adventurer. Depending on the current weather and sea conditions, the voyage can be rough, calm or somewhere in between. During the crossing, sea sickness is possible and medication is highly recommended.
During the 2-day crossing, onboard activities and gatherings for Adventures by Disney Guests will be planned, however, they are subject to change depending on weather and sea conditions, which may also change throughout the crossing.

Exploration Preparation Sessions
Make sure you're prepared for your adventure in Antarctica with these preparation sessions:
- Parka & Boot Distribution: Adventurers receive their parkas, which they can take home with them. Boots, if you are borrowing them, will also be distributed.
- IAATO & Zodiac Briefing: Learn about the organization which oversees environmentally responsible travel to Antarctica. You’ll also get familiar with the Zodiac boats that you will take on your land excursions.
- Decontamination Session: In our efforts to maintain the integrity of Antarctica’s pristine, fragile ecosystem and in accordance with IAATO guidelines, it is mandatory that all visitors to Antarctica decontaminate their outer clothing layer on the first day at sea. Guests will learn how to vacuum their own clothing—especially Velcro—as well as learn about Boot Decontamination Baths and Boot Scrubbings, which are mandatory before and after each land excursion.

ANTARCTIC PENINSULA (ANTARCTICA)

Each day will ideally feature 2 excursions, pending weather conditions—morning and afternoon. The fluid schedule allows us to experience once-in-lifetime moments unfold before you. You’ll definitely want to keep your camera at the ready so you can capture all the momentous memories you’ll capture—maybe even a selfie with penguin!
Some possible excursions include:
- Zodiac Wildlife Lookout: Ride across the glacial waters in search of local wildlife—penguins often swim and dive alongside the boat, or marvel at the sheer power of an Orca as it breaches the water’s surface.
- Zodiac Cruise to Antarctic Peninsula: Board a Zodiac boat and cruise across the water to a place few have gone before—Antarctica! Step foot on the 7th continent and explore this terrain that is unlike any place on Earth.
- Hilltop Hike: Experience breathtaking panoramic views of Antarctica’s natural beauty on a hike that is customizable to your comfort level ranging from easy to more strenuous.
- Penguin Colony Walk: Walk along the “penguin highway” —the paths penguins create to go to and from the sea—as you observe their nesting rituals or watch as they teach their newborns survival skills in the colony.
- Iceberg Observation: Get an up-close look at a massive, towering iceberg.

Important Details
Dr. Mark Penning is the Vice President: Animals, Science and Environment for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. His role includes overseeing animal care and related experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Seas with Nemo and Friends at Epcot, and the horses at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, along with animal experiences at other locations around the globe. Leveraging the meaningful field conservation initiatives supported by the Disney Conservation Fund, his team shares inspirational stories and experiences of nature and animals with our theme park and Resort Guests. His role includes oversight of the company’s use of animals in all film and television programming from an animal welfare perspective, making sure that content relating to animals and nature is both accurate and responsible. He has worked on The Lion King, as well as DisneyNature’s Born in China and Penguins, the latter filmed in the Antarctic. He also leads a team of environmental specialists working to minimize the company’s environmental footprint. His team can be seen in action in The Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, now streaming on Disney+ from National Geographic.
Mark is a veterinarian by training, and was born and raised in South Africa. He owned and operated a veterinary hospital and a wildlife relocation business in South Africa before joining The Walt Disney Company 8 years ago. He specialized in the treatment of birds and reptiles, and has done surgical work in the field on lions, elephants and a host of other species.
Before joining Disney, Mark served as CEO of the South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR), based in Durban, South Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to marine research and conservation. In this capacity, he led a team of animal care professionals in hand-rearing some 500 baby penguins following a catastrophic oil spill off Cape Town. He was delighted to return these brave little birds back to the waters of Cape Town once they had feathered up properly following months of care, and could be successfully released. As a veterinarian, he relocated dozens of large sharks, including tiger sharks, between aquariums and back into the ocean. He has also served as President of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), based currently in Barcelona.
Mark has tremendous passion for all natural habitats and the incredible creatures that depend on them. He has a passion for protecting the environment by convincing people to protect the habitat in their immediate surrounds, and thereby create places for wildlife to live and to thrive. He has traveled extensively through the bushveld in Africa, the forests of South and SE Asia and Central Africa, the deserts of Africa and the Middle East, the outback of Australia, and the wilderness of the Far East, and has enjoyed diving in several locations in the Western Indian Ocean with big sharks and giant manta rays.

Roy Conli
Disney Animation and Disneynature producer Roy Conli joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1993, and after assembling all the creative elements for “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and launching the project, he relocated to France to oversee the contributions of the Paris-based animation team over the two-year production schedule. Upon completion of the film, he remained in France and guided production on the animated films “Hercules” and “Tarzan.” Roy returned to the studio in Burbank produce “Treasure Planet”. He served as producer of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 50th animated film “Tangled.” He won an Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature of 2014 for “Big Hero 6.” His most recent animated feature is a yet-to-be-announced title that will be release in 2022. He is part of the executive leadership team for Walt Disney Animation Studios.Roy joined the Disneynature team in 2015, sharing his talents to help support the brand’s narrative style. He served as a producer of “Born in China” directed by Lu Chuan, one of China’s most daring and celebrated live-action filmmakers. Released in 2017, the film remains the top grossing nature documentary in China. In 2019, Roy served as a producer for the big screen release of Disneynature’s “Penguins.” In 2020, two of his projects premiered during the inaugural year of Disney+, Disney’s SVOD service. Continuing the tradition of celebrating Earth Day, “Dolphin Reef” and “Elephant” were Disneynature’s first contribution to the streaming platform. In April of 2022, the release of Disneynature’s “Polar Bear” will continue that tradition.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Roy studied theater at San Francisco’s prestigious American Conservancy Theater (ACT). He was instrumental in the restoration and re-opening of the legendary Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theatre of California. He subsequently moved to Boston where he continued his education at Boston University and eventually earned an M.F.A. After graduation, he served as associate producer for the Camden Shakespeare Festival in Maine. In 1989, Roy joined the production team at the Mark Taper Forum, the leading regional theater in Los Angeles. Over the next four years he managed all special projects and new play development for the Taper, where he helped launch premieres of such award-winning plays as “Angels in America,” “Jelly’s Last Jam” and “The Kentucky Cycle.”
