If you are a U. S. citizen, you will need a valid passport to enter and depart China. It must be valid six months beyond your intended stay and have 1 to 2 blank pages remaining. Guests must also provide evidence of return or onward travel. Allow yourself sufficient time to have your application processed if you are applying for a new passport or renewing an expired passport. Guests 17 years of age or younger may be required to show additional documentation when traveling with a single parent. Visit the U.S. Department of State for more details.

All visitors to China are required to obtain a Tourist "L" Visa, which can be obtained by contacting the nearest Chinese Embassy (Washington D.C.) or Consulate (Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco). Visa applications typically take 3 to 5 working days to process. It varies, but typically your visit must begin within 90 days of the date of issue. Visas are valid for between 1 and 3 months of travel. You may also need to provide travel documents (tickets or travel confirmation) confirming return or onward travel.

If you are not a U.S. citizen, please check with the Chinese Embassy for information on documentation requirements.

      Passport/Visa Services
You can apply for a passport and/or visa through CIBT, Inc., a third party travel document company servicing the travel industry (not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company). Learn more or call CIBT at (800) 406-1523. Be sure to mention Adventures by Disney, account #55134, for special pricing options.

With frequent security changes, we recommend that you check with your air carrier as well as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for current restrictions.

      Luggage Information
Please limit your baggage to one piece of checked baggage per person plus one carry-on per person, due to internal flights within China.

While your international airline may follow a more lenient baggage policy when flying to China, Chinese domestic airlines have very strict requirements that may not align with overseas flights. To ensure a smooth transfer for all Guests on these internal flights, Adventures by Disney will enforce the domestic baggage policies of the domestic airlines during the trip.

      China’s domestic weight requirements are:

      • 1 checked bag not to exceed 20kg/44lbs and the total dimension of each piece must not exceed 80" (200 cm).
      • 1 carry-on bag not to exceed 5kg/11lbs and not to exceed dimensions 21x15x7" (so that it can fit under the seat or in overhead compartment).
      • 1 small item may also be carry-on (like a purse, coat, umbrella).

When packing your luggage, please keep this information in mind.

PLEASE NOTE: Adventures by Disney is not responsible for excess baggage fees.

Since a majority of your adventure will take place outdoors, attire for your adventure should be casual and comfortable. Keep in mind that the climate in China, especially during summer months, is extremely hot and humid. However, you may wish to don business casual attire for our welcome and farewell dinners. Hairdryers are available at all hotels. Although toiletries like shampoo, razors and deodorant are available, they are usually priced at a premium. Chinese currency is called Renminbi (People's money), though it's usually abbreviated as RMB. The largest denomination of the RMB is the yuan. In Hong Kong, the currency is the Hong Kong Dollar (HK$).

U.S. dollars are not accepted for payment anywhere in China. Hotels and banks typically impose a 3% to 5% fee for currency exchange transactions. Using your debit card in local ATMs—widely available throughout the trip—is the most efficient way to obtain cash in China. Credit cards or debit cards are widely accepted in China in hotels, restaurants and department stores but cash is still the medium for local shops and small markets.

While this adventure is not considered physically strenuous, most days will include 1 to 3 hours of walking. On Day 5, the hike along the Great Wall is moderately strenuous with a number of brief ascents and descents. The 13-day itinerary is filled with fun, gentle activities, including Tai Chi lessons and strolls through city streets, historic sites, parks and gardens. Moreover, the itinerary includes visiting 5 distinct regions that are linked by 4 commercial flights within China. Flight times range in length from 1 to 3 hours. As noted, nearly all of the trip's featured activities are gentle if examined separately; however, the full range of activities and length of the journey requires a moderate amount of stamina in order to get the most of your vacation. Additionally, the heat and humidity are very high, especially during the summer months.

While we welcome children ages 6 and up at the time of travel to discover the stories of the world with us, we recommend that children be at least 8 years old at the time of travel on our China trip. This is based on several factors, such as flight time and jet lag, time zone differences in the destination, duration of the vacation, extended hours of daily activity programming, number of internal transports between experiences, potential for extreme temperatures in the summer months, and amount of physical activity (e.g., walking) involved. Because each child is different, call a Vacationista at (800) 543-0865 to discuss whether this is the right trip for your kids.

Typically, breakfast is served family style and offer a wide variety of both American-style and Chinese options. Dinners and lunches usually include fish, meat, and pasta or rice entrées, vegetables along with desserts and fruit. While the menus have been planned to give you a taste of typical Chinese cuisine, they are always balanced with limited American fare. Some meals on this trip are served family style while others offer a limited-choice menu. Given the nature of group travel, we regret that á la carte menu choices are not available. Child-friendly choices are available at all meals. Menu items are subject to change due to the availability and seasonality of foods. In order to offer you and your family a bit of time to enjoy meals amongst yourselves, there are a few meals that are not included in the itinerary. These meals have been planned in towns or cities where you will have plenty of options available. If you have any questions or concerns about dining at any time during your vacation, your Adventure Guides will be happy to assist you.

We will make every reasonable effort to operate the vacations as advertised; however, we reserve the right to curtail or modify the itinerary, or to substitute activities, hotels, meals or transportation as we deem necessary.
