Cú Chi Tunnels

Take a motor coach to the extraordinary Cú Chi tunnels, which were used by the Viet Cong as their base of operations during the Vietnam War. Learn how this network of incredibly narrow tunnels served as living quarters, hideouts and guerilla strongholds as well as supply routes.

Visit Local Tailor Shop

Meet one of Hoi An’s renowned custom clothiers and learn about the tradition of tailoring. This art form dates back to the ancient Silk Road, a network of trade routes that connected the East to the West and was critical for economic, religious, political and cultural interactions from the 2nd century BCE through the 18th century.

A visit to a Vietnamese tailor shop is a unique experience, as each shop is unique to the tailor. You’ll be awed by the multitude of colors, fabrics and textures that surround you. You will have the option of purchasing your own custom designed and custom made garment at their own expense. The tailor will take your measurements, and your garment will be delivered to the hotel the next day.

Bunker Tour Under the Hotel

Take the Path of History as you head down below – underneath the hotel – for a tour of Metropole’s bomb shelter. The shelter protected guests, including celebrities like Joan Baez and Jane Fonda, from air raids during the war. The bunker was sealed off and forgotten until it was re-discovered during hotel renovations. It was reopened in 2012 and now serves as a memorial to the hotel employees in honor of their efforts during the hardships of war.
