Australia has always been on both my and my wife's bucket list. But when we asked our 11 year old twin daughters if they would mind missing Christmas
at home for the first time to go to Australia, we were happily surprised at their enthusiastic response! This was our third trip with ABD and by far our best to date! We celebrated Christmas morning in our room at Freychinet Lodge with trinkets purchased at local gift shops along the way...and then to Kayaking on the bay with our tour group. It was a cold and rainy day, but a family Christmas we will never forget! And commemorated by my wife's picture of my daughter Catherine and I enjoying the day.

I was sixteen years old the summer my mom took my siblings and me on the Adventures by Disney trip to Australia. It truly was the trip of a lifetime.
Like all the places we'd visited on this adventure, our day at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney was made Disney special by means of our private, before hours breakfast reception and animal petting followed by meeting our own tour guide of the zoo. I was not too far removed from the joy and appreciation of Saturday morning cartoons so as we rounded the bend to the kangaroo enclosure, one of our junior adventurers asked the question I was eager to ask, Will we get to see the kangaroos box like they always do in the cartoons? Our guide told the little boy that in all her thirty years as a zoo guide, she'd never seen the kangaroos do that. Now I never heard Tinkerbell or saw her magic wand above the zoo that morning, but just as we turned back to them, and with quite a startled look on our guides face, the kangaroos did just that!

One of my favorite memories from our trip to Australia is our visit to the Great Barrier Reef. We were so excited to swim among the tropical fish and
see the amazing coral formations. This photo, taken by our Adventure Guide Mike, captures the inner child well on display. I like to call it Snorkel Ninjas.

Five years ago, we had the opportunity to go to Australia on ABDs Adventure Down Under. Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef was even more beautiful
than we had imagined. At one point, a giant sea turtle swam by us. My daughter tried to swim with it, and was able to pet its back as it gracefully swam away. We were the last people in the water that day; she snorkeled until we realized the rest of our group was waiting for us on the boat! The next day, we visited a walkabout filled with kangaroos and wallabies. There were buckets of food, and they ate right out of our hands! The big red kangaroos were impressive, but we fell in love with the smaller wallabies. I was taking pictures of a wallaby eating out of my daughters hand. Just then, a baby joey poked its head out of the wallabys pouch!! The little joey looked around, ate some food off the ground, and then disappeared back in the pouch. A few minutes later, we saw the pouch move, and some feet came out the top of the pouch! Joey poked its head out again to say gday before we left. Thank you to Adventures by Disney for creating the space for these moments to happen. What Ive realized is that some of the most memorable moments are the ones that are unscripted. By handling the itinerary and all the details, Adventures by Disney allowed this busy mom to relax and enjoy every moment of this trip. Someone else worried about packing ponchos and snacks, which set us free to experience the magic.

Disney Forever Friends! This story began on our second Disney Adventure to Italy. Our group stops at a local gelato shop and after we all had our gelato
we organized the kids to take a photo. After the photo my daughter, Allie started talking with another girl, Heather eating her gelato. In moments, our kids Trent and Allie had met new friends. Later we were shopping in a wonderful town, Orvieto, we had stopped for lunch for a porchetta sandwich. Our guide, Heidi had raved about. Allie was sitting with Heather and Heather's mom, Karen came in as we were eating. We hadn't really gotten to know each other yet . I offered half of my porchetta sandwich to Karen since she hadn't ordered and we were already eating. Little did we know that a lifelong friendship had begun! Fast forward to the photo submitted. It is photo of theWigci's in Australia. The 4 Wignalls became close friends with the 4 Gracis and the Wigcis were born! This is a story of Disney friendship that started on the Italy adventure. The next year we went to Greece, the next year South Africa, the next year Australia, and the next year the Amazon and Galapagos. We are considering Norway next! Our 2 families have become dear friends love traveling the world together. The Australia photo was taken on a perfect evening when we just arrived in Sydney with the Wigci's in front of the lights of the Harbor bridge and the Sydney Opera House. We have met so many wonderful people on our adventures! Friends Forever

My family and I traveled on the Australian Trip after my husband was finishing up his 2 years of chemotherapy for Leukemia. He wanted to stand on top
of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and feel like he was on top of the world! We reserved the tickets for an afternoon while we were in Sydney and one of our Disney guides and another couple joined us in the climb! The whole trip to Australia was life changing for us and gave us the happiness we needed after a rough 2 years! Our guides, Amber, (who I still correspond with) and Mike made our trip truly magical. We encountered breath taking Disney moments almost everywhere. When we were in the rain forest, the weather was sunny, when we went to Uluru, we rode our camels in the rain and a double rainbow formed over Ayers Rock! As we came back to the hotel in Uluru, the locals at the hotel were dancing in the rain as it had been a long time since the last rain and we joined them! I was also looking forward to seeing the turtles in the Great Barrier Reef but I was scared in the water. I turned to head to shore but Mike wanted me to get the most from this incredible opportunity. He carefully took my arm, guided me around and pointed out the turtles and magnificent coral underneath us. He never let go of me and gave me a magical day. My family and I have also been to Costa Rica with Disney and enjoyed that also but truly our favorite trip ever has got to be Australia. I'm already thinking of another magical journey!

When we booked our Adventures by Disney trip to Australia, I was excited that the itinerary included several activities, such as kayaking and zip-lining,
that would be new for me and even out of my comfort zone. However, the activity I looked most forward to was surfing at Bondi Beach. Although I had never surfed before, I had heard of this famous beach and knew it would be a great opportunity to be able to surf there. It turned out to be a cold but sunny day, and the water was too cold for my wife, but I was determined to try. After a group warm-up on the beach led by a most helpful, patient and able instructor, I was ready to get in the water. The wet suits we wore kept us nice and warm. At first we all just knelt on our boards and rode a few waves in. Then it was time to try to stand. After several tries and several unceremonious falls, I finally made it up on my feet ... for a few seconds at least! Another once in a lifetime memory and another thing to cross off my bucket list thanks to Adventures by Disney.
